How does Specset work with Procore?

Specset (formerly Specbook AI) pulls submittals, RFIs, documents, specifications, and drawings from Procore, reviews each submittal against the governing spec and the drawings, and posts the result back as the approver response (Procore sync settings). Procore runs the submittal log, routing, and approvals 7. The design team makes the final disposition 3. Use Procore alone for logging and routing; add Specset when each package needs a cited technical check.

What does Specset sync with Procore?

Specset syncs submittals, RFIs, documents, specifications, drawings, daily logs, and photos with a linked Procore project, with each direction turned on per record type (Procore sync settings). Submittals and RFIs sync both ways, each with a scope such as Open or Ball in Court. Specifications and drawings sync one way, from whichever system you choose as the source of truth.

Where does Specset sit in the Procore submittal workflow?

Specset joins the Procore approval workflow as a system approver and returns mapped responses, comments, attachments, and selected custom fields (integrations). With "Review automatically" on, a submittal that arrives or changes starts a review, and the outcome can post back as the approver response with review status, summary, and a link in Procore custom fields 4.

What does Procore keep doing?

Procore keeps the submittal log, routing, RFIs, and drawings, and Specset adds the technical review on top (integrations). Procore's project management page lists "Standardized submittal logs," "RFI-to-drawing linking," and "Real-time spec and submittal tracking" 7.

How do Specset and Claude work with Procore data?

Specset pulls the project data from Procore, and Claude talks to Specset's MCP server, so Claude answers from Specset's conformed record (Use Specset from Claude). The Specset plugin for Claude bundles skills plus a native MCP connector, and its skills default to read-only, asking before anything that changes data 5. ChatGPT connects to the same tools through Specset's hosted MCP endpoint at app.specset.com/mcp 6.

What does each system do?

Procore runs the submittal log, routing, and approvals, and Specset adds a cited technical review of each package; the table splits the jobs by what each company publishes (integrations).

When do you need Specset on a Procore project?

Specset fits when a Procore submittal needs a technical check against the governing spec and the drawings before the design team's disposition, and Procore alone fits when your process is logging, routing, and tracking (submittal review).

Common questions

What teams ask about Specset and Procore.

01Does Specset replace Procore?

No. Procore stays the system of record for the submittal log, routing, and approvals. Specset pulls submittals, RFIs, documents, specifications, and drawings from Procore, runs the technical review, and posts the result back as the approver response.

02How is Specset installed in Procore?

Specset is installed in Procore as a custom app, and each Procore project must be added under Permitted Projects for the Specset app before it can be linked. Each Specset project links to one Procore project, and each record type's sync direction is set separately.

03What does Specset write back to Procore after a review?

Specset posts a mapped approve, revise, or reject response as the approver, a review comment with the summary and cited findings, Review.xlsx as an attachment, and, if enabled, review status, summary, and a review link in Procore custom fields.

04Is there an official Procore MCP server? How does Claude work with Procore data through Specset?

Specset pulls project data from Procore. Claude, or another MCP client, works with that data through Specset's MCP server. Customers already use Specset with Claude this way.

05Can Claude use my Procore data through Specset?

Yes. Specset pulls the project data from Procore, and Claude connects to Specset through the Specset plugin's MCP connector. Claude then searches the specs, drawings, submittals, and RFIs in Specset, and the plugin's skills default to read-only.

06Does Specset delete records in Procore?

Specset never deletes an imported specification section or drawing sheet. If one disappears from Procore, Specset keeps its copy and flags it as no longer in Procore.
